Traffic Offenses

Careless driving - A driver's failure to operate a vehicle with proper care under the road and weather conditions at the time. Improper passing in a no-passing lane - A driver is not permitted to pass another vehicle where there is a traffic sign that states "No Passing".
Children: Seat belts and car seats - Drivers with small children in the car are required by law to make sure that the children are properly seated in child seats. Improper passing on the right - A driver attempting to pass another vehicle traveling in the same direction must pass on the left.
Driving while intoxicated - Drivers cannot operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Improper right or left turn - A driver making a turn must follow the arrow markings on a roadway and any special turn arrow signals.
Driving with a suspended license - A person is not permitted to drive a vehicle while his or her driver's license is suspended or revoked. Improper U-turn - A driver cannot make a U-turn where there is a "No U-turn" sign or where the driver is unable to see oncoming traffic clearly.
Driving with drugs in possession - It is a traffic offense for a driver to knowingly have any illegal drugs on his or her person or in the vehicle while driving. Leaving the scene of an accident - A person involved in a motor vehicle accident must do several things before before leaving the accident scene.
Driving without insurance - A driver is not permitted to operate a motor vehicle without having the minimum amount of liability insurance. Parking violations - A driver may not park a vehicle in any space prohibited by law.
Failure to observe traffic signals - A person must obey all traffic lights, signals or signs. Reckless driving - Driving a motor vehicle in an extremely careless manner, without concern for the rights or safety of other drivers or pedestrians.
Failure to produce a license or insurance - A driver is required to produce certain documents if asked to do so by a police officer. Refusal to submit to a breathalyzer - A driver stopped or arrested for drunk driving may be required to submit to a Breathalyzer test.
Failure to stop or yield - A driver must stop at a "stop" sign or slow down and check for oncoming traffic when approaching a "yield" sign. Seat Belts - The driver and front seat passenger of a motor vehicle are required to wear seat belts.
Speeding - A driver is not permitted to drive faster that the posted speed limit.
