Failure to show an insurance card or driver's license
New Jersey Statute 39:3-29, (License, registration certificate and insurance identification card; possession; exhibit upon request; violations; fine; defense)


A driver is required to present a driver’s license, registration and insurance card any time he or she is stopped by the police. A driver who brings the valid document to court may have the court dismiss the charges and only be required to pay court costs.

Each document that is not presented is considered a separate offense. For example, a driver that does not have their license and their registration would receive two separate tickets.


Penalties:
If the driver is found guilty:

  • A fine of $44.
