Reciprocity with other states - suspension of drivers licenses
New Jersey Statute: 39:5-30.1 (Suspension or revocation of driver’s license where reciprocity driving privilege is suspended or revoked in another state)
If a person’s driver’s license is suspended or revoked in another state because of a traffic violation, New Jersey can suspend or revoke the driver’s New Jersey driver’s license for the same amount of time, or up to the maximum amount of time New Jersey law provides for that type of offense. For example, if a person’s license is suspended for 18 months by New York for driving without insurance, New Jersey will suspend the license for one year, the maximum suspension for that charge in the state.
