Trucks Inspected on I-295
The war on terror takes to the highways in New Jersey. There were inspections for every truck that crossed up through Salem County. They inspected the big rigs as part of the heightened terrorism alert. There were inspections for every truck that crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge and headed up I-295. Some were weighed and others were pulled off of the highway and searched. "We have to go beyond thinking security and safety only during a heightened elevated code orange."
"Safety and security should be a daily occurrence. To save lives there could be no inconvenience to save even one life," said one trucker.
About 1,400 trucks traveled through that area on Monday.
