Local & national Sporting News Former Missouri defensive back John McPherson has been sentenced to nine years in prison for felony drug trafficking.

As part of his plea agreement, McPherson may be released on probation based on his behavior during his first 120 days in prison.

The charge stems from McPherson`s arrest July 27 in Lafayette County, about 40 miles east of Kansas City.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper pulled McPherson`s car over.

After receiving permission from McPherson to search the car, the patrolman found 95 pounds of marijuana and $4,031 in cash.
