Phillies` pitcher Person arrested Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Robert Person was arrested Sunday on misdemeanor charges of obstructing a police officer and giving a false name, two days after he signed a one-year contract worth $2.975 million.

According to Tampa police, Person refused to walk away from a fight after brawling with a man in the city`s party district, forcing them to hogtie the pitcher. Person allegedly became so enraged that he tried to wriggle out of his handcuffs and kick out the windows of a police car after his arrest.

Person spent four hours in Hillsborough County Jail before he was released on $1,000 bail.

According to a police spokesman, Person was not charged with a felony because he hit no officers during the struggle. However, Person was charged with giving a false name when he refused to identify himself.
