Phillies sign Gomes The Philadelphia Phillies have settled their arbitration case with righthander Wayne Gomes, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract worth $925,000, plus incentives.

Gomes was asking for $1.2 million while the team was offering $700,000. Gomes collected $390,000 last season.

Gomes went 4-6 with seven saves and a 4.40 ERA while pitching in at least 65 games for the third straight season. But he also went on the disabled list for the first time, missing three weeks with elbow tendinitis.

In his career, Gomes is 23-18 with a 4.44 ERA and 27 saves.
