FBI Raids Methadone Clinic In Camden

FBI Raids Methadone Clinic In Camden CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) – Authorities have raided a methadone clinic in Camden.

The FBI arrived at the clinic near 5th and Market Streets on Wednesday morning.

Video from Chopper 3 shows at least 100 people lined up outside. Clients were kept out for part of the morning.

“I came here 8:30 this morning to get a dose, when I got here they were like, ‘No one is going to get dose, go stand in line.’ When I looked up the FBI was raiding the place,” said Rob Arrington.

Dozens of boxes were taken, some we could clearly see labeled as patient records.

The clinic is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health as a medication-assisted treatment facility. It’s registered both as the Camden Treatment Associates LLC and Urban Treatment Associates, Inc., under the supervision of Dr. John Holtsclaw.

There was no response when CBS’3 Cleve Bryan called the doctor. Holtsclaw’s attorney declined to comment when contacted by CBS3.

Robert Ortiz says he was interviewed by the FBI after making a comment to another client that “shady stuff happens here.”

“They took me to a small room and started asking me questions about what do I know about shady stuff going on here,” said Ortiz.

He told them he thought the medicine was watered down lately.

“It’s supposed to come out the same every time but it doesn’t. So there has to be a reason for it,” Ortiz said.

Many patients were upset it took several hours to get treatment as the FBI went in and out of the building.

“If you don’t get your medicine you’re going to buy something from the street which will ruin your recovery,” said John Hoffman.

Officials say patients were later allowed back in.

There is still an active operation at the facility.

The reason for the raid has not been released.
