South Jersey Football Games of the Week
This week's top games will all be played this Friday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.:

Cherry Hill East (3-0, 1-0 WJFL Memorial) at Egg Harbor Township (2-1, 0-1)
Cherry Hill East has outscored its three opponents, 97-14. The Cougars are coming off last week’s 31-7 win over Triton in their first division game of the season. Isaiah Donaldson led the way with three touchdowns, a 15-yard run and scoring passes for 91 and 39 yards from Zach Salsbery. Donaldson is among the top big-play performers in South Jersey. He has six receptions for 258 yards and five touchdowns and has rushed for 165 yards (8.6 avg.) and three scores. After opening with wins over West Windsor-Plainsboro South and St. Joseph, EHT lost a nail-biter, 32-29 to Bridgeton last week. There were many big plays in the game, including a 74-yard kickoff return from EHT’s Joseph Lacross.

Cherokee (2-1, 0-1 WJFL American) at Mainland (2-1, 0-1)
Both teams are coming off division losses to Top 10 teams. Cherokee fell to St. Augustine 21-7. Senior Murad Campfield leads Cherokee’s potent ground game. He has rushed for 431 yards (6.8 avg.) and two touchdowns. Mainland is coming off a 40-7 loss at Millville, which is a major threat to be South Jersey’s No. 1 team. Despite the lopsided score, Mainland led 7-6 at halftime and trailed 20-7 entering the fourth quarter before Millville put the game away. Junior QB John Franchini has thrown for 572 yards and five touchdowns and even though Mainland is more known for the run, the passing of Franchini could be a key in this game.

Millville (3-0) at Washington Township (3-0)

It was another big game for Alabama commit Lotzeir Brooks in Millville’s 40-7 win over Mainland that snapped the Mustangs’ 16-game win streak. Brooks had eight receptions for 200 yards and two scores and also scored a rushing touchdown. In three games he has 17 receptions for 476 yards and six touchdowns. Washington Township is coming off last week’s 28-6 win over defending Group 3 state champion Delsea (which is in a rebuilding mode this season). Junior Cole Aquino continued his strong season by completing 11-of-15 passes for 121 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Township will have to run the ball and do its best to control the clock in an attempt to keep the potent Millville offense off the field. Junior Colin Beeler leads the ground game. He has rushed for 359 yards (5.5 avg.) and six touchdowns.

Holy Spirit (2-1) at Camden (3-0)
After an opening loss to Millville, Spirit has won two in a row by a combined 80-0 score over Oakcrest and Hammonton. Senior Jahcere Ward has rushed for 255 yards (6.2 avg.) and five touchdowns. Camden is coming off a 44-3 win over previously unbeaten Shawnee as quarterback Mahki Brunson threw for 185 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Brunson has thrown for 599 yards and eight touchdowns.

St. Augustine (3-0, 1-0 WJFL American) at Winslow Township (3-0, 0-0)
Winslow Township has outscored its three opponents 116-14, but the Eagles now begin division play in South Jersey’s toughest division. This is the beginning of a three-game stretch against consensus Top 10 South Jersey teams – St. Augustine, Millville and Camden. Sophomore Roman Duckett is among the many top skill position players for Winslow Township. He has rushed for 228 yards (6.7 avg.) and six touchdowns. St. Augustine earned a 21-7 win last week over previously unbeaten conference foe Cherokee. Julian Turney rushed for 146 yards and a TD on 22 carries. For the season he has rushed for 372 yards (6.7 avg.) and four touchdowns.
