Talking Tech
Every business in the modern world utilizes various forms of technology daily in order to be able to improve productivity and operate more effectively. While the use of technology in business is nothing new, it has rapidly evolved as companies prioritize efficiency, especially as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more widespread thanks to expanded capabilities.
Monica Amadio serves as the chair of Stockton University’s Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program as well as an assistant professor. She says more and more, businesses are turning toward AI and automation to help operations run smoother.
“The biggest shift right now is the use of AI and automation to reduce routine work and speed up decision making. … These tools help companies do more with smaller teams and scale faster than ever before,” says Amadio.
Software defined wide area networks, or SD-WAN, is another form of technology that businesses of any size are utilizing, as these networks replace the hardware traditionally needed for connectivity with software, simplifying network management and reducing the cost to business owners.
“It’s modernized, it’s efficient, it’s resilient and it’s more cost effective. You wouldn’t want to go back and drive your parents’ car. You might want to drive a newer car, one that’s more efficient, maybe a hybrid, maybe an electric car. So I kind of equate that to what we’ve got here,” said David Egan, regional vice president of Comcast Business.
