Phillies Win Rain-Shortened Game

by 6 ABC - Action News | Aug 2, 2001
Phillies Win Rain-Shortened Game Philadelphia was an 8-to-1 winner over Colorado in a game called by rain in the seventh inning.

Doug Glanville had a hand in the Phillies` first four runs. Glanville scored in the first inning on Pat Burrell`s r-b-i single and delivered a two-run homer in the second. Glanville made it 4-to-1 by stealing third and coming home on catcher Ben Petrick`s throwing error. The Phillies broke it open in the fifth when Burrell smacked a solo homer and Todd Pratt added a three-run blast.

Randy Wolf fired a four-hitter over six innings to move to 6-and-10.

Denny Neagle was shelled for eight runs -- seven earned -- on ten hits in four and a-third. He`s 6-and-6.

The win gets the Phils within two-games of first-place Atlanta in the NL East.
