Thunder Bats Return Favor, 8-2

(Trenton)- Virgil Chevalier and Mike Rose hit early homers and Chris Elmore pitched seven strong innings as the Thunder beat Norwich, 8-2, Tuesday night in front of 5,346 fans.
That attendance pushed Trenton over 400,000 for the 7th straight season, becoming the first team in the 100-year history of Minor League Baseball to do that feat.
In the game, Norwich (73-55) got a single runs in the 1st and 2nd Innings off Elmore, but that was it for the night. Elmore (5-1) allowed two runs on eight hits in seven innings.
On offense, Chevalier smacked a three-run homer in the 1st Inning, his 15th of the year, and Rose added a two-run shot in the 2nd Inning, his first hit as a Thunder player, for a 5-2 lead. Those runs came off Norwich starter Randy Flores (12-7), who allowed seven runs in 6 1/3 innings.
Trenton (63-65) added single runs in the 3rd, 7th and 8th Innings. Luis Garcia had two hits and an RBI, now giving him a 10-game hitting streak. Aaron Capista finished off the night with an RBI triple in the 8th Inning.
The two teams meet again on Wednesday at 7:05 PM in the "2001 Home Finale" for the Thunder. Derrin Ebert (7-6) starts for Trenton against Norwich`s Tim Adkins (2-0).
