Surf Edge Sharks 6-5

Camden entered the game winning back-to-back games against Lehigh Valley at Campbell`s Field, while Atlantic City dropped two-out-of-three games to Long Island at EAB Park. Tonight, the Surf jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning. Then in the bottom of the first, the Sharks came within one thanks to leadoff hitter Brad Strauss hitting his 11th home run of the season. This is the second time Brad Strauss has homered to leadoff the Riversharks lineup at Campbell`s Field. Strauss led the Sharks offensively, going 2-for-5 with one run batted in and increasing his team-high runs scored total to 65 for the season. Contributing with Strauss was shortstop Jesus Azuaje extended his hitting streak to 10 games going 2-for-4 with one run scored and right fielder Gil Martinez going 2-for-4 with one run batted in and one run scored.
Atlantic City starter Zac Stark took the win, improving to 6-12 for the season, while Mike Busby dropped to 6-10 with the loss for Camden. Jose Alberro picked up his second save of the season for the Surf. Right fielder Will Pennyfeather led a 10-hit attack for Atlantic City going 2-for-5 with three runs batted in. Surf first baseman Jose Valezquez assisted Pennyfeather going 1-for-3 with one run batted in and one run scored.
Tomorrow night the Expressway series continues with the second game of the three-game series between the Camden Riversharks and the Atlantic City Surf at Campbell`s Field. In a crucial series, both teams will be gunning for the advantage in the next two games. Camden will send left-hander Derek Root (6-6, 5.18) to battle Darryl Roque and the Atlantic City Surf.
