NJ Faces Continuing Nurse Shortage
CHERRY HILL: New Jersey hospitals may have to cut back on programs if a nursing shortage continues. That's according to Richard Murray, chairman of the New Jersey Hospital Association. Nearly every medical facility in the region needs more nurses. Geri Dickson from Rutgers University's College of Nursing says the state could face a shortfall of 13-thousand-950 registered nurses by 2006 – an 18-percent deficit. And enrollments at nursing schools are still lagging, meaning the problem probably won't get better anytime soon.
