Absentee Ballots Stuck in Hamilton?

Absentee Ballots Stuck in Hamilton? TRENTON, NJ: The anthrax scare is impacting next month's gubernatorial election in New Jersey due to the use to absentee ballots. Some voters may become victims of the anthrax situation because their ballots are stuck inside a closed postal facility.

Election officials in New Jersey are urging voters to mail their absentee ballots immediately. Officials worry post office delays caused by the anthrax scare could cause them to miss the November sixth deadline for submitting their vote.

Mercer County Clerk Catherine DiCostanzo says local election officials worry ballots might be stuck in the Hamilton Township mail facility. That office processed three anthrax-tainted letters. Mail inside the facility was being decontaminated, but election officials don't know how long that will take.

DiCostanzo says applications for absentee ballots – or the ballots themselves – could be stuck inside.
