NJ Patient Beats Inhalation Anthrax

NJ Patient Beats Inhalation Anthrax MOUNT HOLLY, NJ: November 5, 2001: Doctors say the Hamilton Township postal worker who is the first confirmed case of inhalation anthrax in New Jersey, is ready to be released from the hospital.

A 56-year-old woman named Norma Wallace, who is a mail handler at the Hamilton Township postal facility, will be released today. She's been undergoing 18 days of antibiotic treatment and has been successfully cured of inhalation anthrax.

There is no word yet on whether Wallace will be returning to work, however she and her doctors will be holding a press conference this afternoon and more information will become available at that point.

Officials at the hospital hope that her press conference helps put other postal workers' minds at ease by showing them that anthrax is something that can be beaten.
