SJ Sports - Hot Action On Ice Do you like hockey? Good! This week in SJ Sports I’m going to introduce you to Atlantic City’s newest attraction. No it’s not another Casino, it the Boardwalk Bullies. Who the heck are the Boardwalk Bullies you ask? Well, they are the East Coast Hockey Leagues newest members.

In this, their inaugural season the team, who got their name from a "Name the team" contest, has been very impressive. Playing out of Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall the team is seated in third place in their division right behind Roanoke and the Trenton Titans who by the way always make for an exciting game in this intense inter-state rivalry. The Bullies were even responsible for the Titans first home loss this season beating them 3 – 2. "The Boardwalk Bullies’ close proximity to the Trenton Titans provides for an uncommonly competitive rivalry," remarked Bullies’ Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing Mike DiPalma.

You may not be familiar with the names yet. Guys like Goalie Shawn Degagne, Forward Mark Loeding, and Head Coach Mike Haviland, but you will be soon enough. You see these guys are here to play and here to stay.

The Boardwalk Bullies are also very involved in the community, and that is evident this weekend when they hold their first ever Annual Teddy Bear Toss, Friday, Dec. 7. When the Bullies score its first goal, fans in attendance will toss teddy bears onto the ice. The ice crew will collect the teddy bears, which will be donated to Toys for Tots, a charitable organization that supports less fortunate children and families. Fans who bring teddy bears to the game may purchase specially priced tickets for $9 at the Boardwalk Hall box office on Dec. 7. The Boardwalk Bullies will face-off against the Peoria Rivermen at Boardwalk Hall at 7 p.m.

So, if you happen to be in Atlantic City and are looking for some great local sports action, be sure to give this team a look. You won’t be disappointed!
