Pan Am to Serve AC A famous aviation name is about to land at Atlantic City. Pan Am will begin service on March 4 between Atlantic City and three other destinations: Baltimore-Washington International Airport, White Plains, New York and its home base of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

New England railroad operator Guilford Transportation Industries bought rights to the name and blue globe logo in 1998 and is putting them on its Boston-Maine Airways aircraft. It has been operating as a charter carrier since 1999 while seeking Federal Aviation Administration approval--which it received received two months ago--for scheduled flights.

Pan Am is already flying casino charter flights to Atlantic City and has a government contract for three-times-weekly shuttle service that flies employees of the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center from Atlantic City to Washington, D.C.
