NJ Senator Corzine Getting Divorce TRENTON, N.J. – March 27, 2002 — U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine and his wife Joanne, who met as first-graders in Illinois, are divorcing after 33 years of marriage, Corzine said Wednesday. "After many years of marriage, and with deep sadness, I have reached the conclusion that it is time for my marriage to end," Corzine said. "While I remain deeply committed to my family, I accept my responsibility for this decision."

Corzine, 55, of Summit, said the family would have no further comment. The couple has two sons, aged 25 and 19, and a daughter, 31.

The Democrat – a multimillionaire – spent $62 million to win his seat in 2000, more than any other candidate for Senate. He made his fortune at Goldman Sachs, the banking and securities firm, where he worked for 24 years and which he ran for five.
