Gov. Outlines AC Plans
Governor James E. McGreevey has outlined plans for Atlantic City at that town's Mid-Atlantic Gaming Congress. He announced support for a streamlined regulatory process that would allow casinos to file thier internal controls with the Casino Control Commission and implement them immediately rather than waiting months for approval. McGreevey also said the state would make it clear that 24-hour gaming is permitted, strengthen the "Bad Checks" law to help casinos collect money they are owed and toughen penalties for underage gambling. The governor highlighted current development projects such as $160-million refurbishment of the Ocean One retail and entertainment complex and the $200-million 452-room Bayview Tower expansion to Harrahs.
