NJ Tax Amnesty Ends Tonight

by 6 ABC-AP | Jun 10, 2002
NJ Tax Amnesty Ends Tonight New Jersey's tax amnesty program is coming to a close today. Tax delinquents have until midnight to pay their back sales, personal, corporate or other taxes without penalty.

The amnesty covers taxes that weren't paid between January 1996 and January 2002. But it doesn't cover federal income taxes or local property taxes.

The state hopes to collect $150-million through the amnesty program. State officials say they had received $85.5-million as of Friday.

The last time the state offered a tax amnesty was in 1996 when it received $359-million dollars.
