5th West Nile Virus Case in NJ

5th West Nile Virus Case in NJ Officials have confirmed another West Nile virus case in a human in New Jersey. The fifth case is in Burlington County. Authorities will provide details at a 1:30 p.m. news conference in Mount Holly.

The other cases include a Hudson County man and three people in Mercer County.

In most cases, the mosquito-borne virus causes minor infections. But some people develop meningitis or encephalitis.

Most who are infected survive, but mortality is higher among the elderly and people with deficient immune systems.
