by NBC10/AP | Dec 7, 2002
Man Bludgeons Mom to Death The son of a woman found bludgeoned to death in their Hamilton Township home this week has been charged with her murder.

Mickey Bryant also faces weapons offenses in the death of 56-year-old Loretta Bryant.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey Blitz says Bryant repeatedly struck his mother in the head with a blunt object as they argued Wednesday in their basement. But he won't say what sparked the dispute.

Several Olympic-sized weight plates, the kind used with barbells, were found near the body. But Blitz refused to say whether the weights were used in the attack. Bryant's body was found by another son, Lester, who had gone to the home to check on his mother.

Mickey Bryant is being held in the county jail on $500,000 bail.
