Dozens Nabbed in Camden Sting

Dozens Nabbed in Camden Sting Eighty-three people, most of them suburbanites, were arrested Wednesday in a crackdown on heroin and cocaine sales in Camden, prosecutors said.

City, county, state and federal law enforcement agents posed as drug dealers in a neighborhood known for hosting drug markets from 6am until 1pm and sold $10 bags of what was actually baking powder.

Authorities said some unemployed people were nabbed, but the suspects also included a nurse from National Park, a secretary from Mount Laurel, and a woman who brought her 3-year-old granddaughter.

Thirteen cars were also seized.

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi said the names of those arrested will be published in a newspaper advertisement in an effort to deter potential drug-buyers.

Earlier this year, a similar effort in Camden netted 81 arrests.
