Torricelli Exploring Camden Development CAMDEN, N.J. -- Former U.S. Sen. Robert Torricelli appears to be finding a new career after politics.

Over the last month, the Democrat toured Camden and met with city officials, exploring the feasibility of developing properties in the struggling city.

Torricelli's term ended last Thursday, closing a career in elected office that was scarred by a recent ethics scandal.

His time in Camden comes as developers across New Jersey are lining up to take advantage of the millions of dollars the state's revitalization effort will pump into the city.

Torricelli isn't commenting. But city officials familiar with his plans say he was given a tour by members of the city's tax collection firm, which is headed by former Gov. Jim Florio.

The firm, Xspand, also helps the city market property for redevelopment.
