Rescuers Save Horse From Pond Thursday morning, rescuers were at the scene of the a horse stuck in a frozen pond in South Jersey. The incident happened at a farm on Asbury Station Road and Swedesboro Ave. in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County.

The 7-year old horse named Yanick broke free from the farm and slid into the pond.

Rescue crews pulled the horse to safety shortly before 9am Thursday. The horse was partially submerged in the frozen water for nearly two hours.

The rescue effort was in doubt as the severe cold in our area caused a large tow truck to stall out. The truck was being used to pull the horse from the pond.

Rescuers also used chain saws to cut through the ice.

As of 10am Thursday, the horse was alive, according to officials. But he was having problems standing due to exposure to cold weather.
