Murder Suspect Arrested

Murder Suspect Arrested Gloucester County police have made an arrest in the bludgeoning death of an employee at a Woodbury tire repair shop.

Aaron T. Sheppard, 20, of Clayton, N.J., was taken into custody at 8:30 Wednesday evening for the murder of Joseph Green, 52. He was found on South Broad Street in Woodbury, just around the corner from the tire business on Lincoln Avenue.

Sheppard has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary.

Police report Sheppard broke into Romar Tire Co. early Wednesday morning with the alleged intention of burglarizing the business. Sheppard then came across Green, who was sleeping, and bludgeoned him repeatedly in the head. Investigators have not identified what kind of weapon was used.

Sheppard's bail was set at $500,000, full cash. He is being held in the Gloucester County Jail.

Green lived in Audubon Park, N.J., with his girlfriend and their two sons, ages 13 and 10.
