Dog Attack Kills Local Woman A 67-year-old woman bled to death after her Doberman pinscher mauled her face and neck last weekend.

Authorities said Valerie DeSwart of Medford, N.J. owned the animal for about 10 days.

DeSwart's boyfriend found her body Sunday night. It's not known exactly when the attack occurred.

The 90- to 100-pound male dog was turned over to Associated Humane Societies in Newark after its previous owner complained that the dog bit someone.

Shelter employees told investigators they had the dog for 87 days and it never showed aggressive tendencies.

The dog was in the custody of Medford's Animal Control Services on Monday. The township solicitor's office was deciding what to do with the animal.
