McGreevey Thanks Tropicana Rescuers During a visit to the Atlantic City Medical Center yesterday, Governor James E. McGreevey thanked first responders and construction workers who were instrumental in rescue efforts at the site of the Tropicana garage collapse last month.

“With great courage and professionalism, the first responders and construction workers helped to save lives and prevent further injuries when the garage collapsed,” said McGreevey, who presented official Governor’s Proclamations to the organizations which took part in the rescue efforts.

More than 400 individuals responded to the scene after the garage collapsed on October 30. Four construction workers lost their lives, and 20 people were treated at the Atlantic City Medical Center.Two others were treated at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has begun an investigation of the garage collapse and is working with State and local officials as well as members of the labor unions involved with the construction project. Below is a list of organizations honored today by the Governor:
