Dead Man Found Under Car A dead body was found Tuesday morning under a parked car in West Deptford Township.

Someone driving along the 100 block of Lectao Avenue around 6:20 a.m. made the discovery. Now, police are not sure whether they are dealing with a murder or just an accident.

"He was wedged pretty much under the car, and he was face down in the snow and blue, just frozen," remembered Tracy Fowler.

Fowler said she couldn't believe what she saw outside of her neighbor's house Tuesday morning. On the ground was a partially clothed man.

"I could see his back and his head from my house. I came out of my door and I could see his bare back and his hair," Fowler said.

Witnesses said the victim had blood on his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the man, identified as Walter Looker, wasn't wearing shoes or a shirt. He wore nothing but his pajama bottoms. Police believe Looker was in his mid 30s. He had been living by himself in the nearby Westwood Motor Lodge for about eight days.

Investigators said early Tuesday night that they did not yet know the cause of death.

"I really can't say. Based upon the information, it's just too early to make a determination or to lean one way or another until we have all the information," said Sean Dalton, the Gloucester County prosecutor.

Investigators said they have no idea how Looker got to the place where he died. Whether it was foul play or a car accident, authorities said they are ruling nothing out.

"My understanding is he had been seen in early-morning hours. So he was found early this morning, so he in fact may have been out there for a couple of hours," Dalton said.

An autopsy has been performed, but officials still haven't determined the cause of death. Toxicology tests have been taken.
