Historic Sites Exhibit Coming

Burlington County artists, age 18 or older, may create their own interpretation using any medium of one or more of the sites on this year's list.
The show, titled New Views III, is the third art exhibit of historically significant sites in Burlington County.
“This annual exhibit is a great opportunity for talented local artists to showcase their creative interpretations of Burlington County 's many interesting historic sites. And all residents can enjoy the artists' work and learn more about our County's diverse history and culture,” said Freeholder William S. Haines, Jr.
The sites are: Burlington Island, Burlington City; Old Courthouse, Mount Holly; John Woolman Memorial House, Mount Holly; Oliver Cromwell House, Burlington City; Friends Meeting House, Burlington City; Issac/Thomas Evans House, Evesham; NJ Manual Training and Industrial School for Colored Youth, Bordentown; Burlington Pharmacy, Burlington City; Jacobs Chapel, AME Church, Mount Laurel; and Elisha Barcklow House, Moorestown.
Pieces (limit 2) should be 2-D with the exception of stained glass. Work must be framed, wired and ready to hang. Pieces should be delivered to the Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery on Smithville Road in Eastampton on Tuesday, April 20 or Thursday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Two jurors, one with a background in Burlington County history and the other in art, will choose winners of a $150 Best in Show award, $100 second place and $75 third place.
The exhibit will run from May 4 through May 21. The program is funded in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
