Benefit Concert to be Held

by Press Release | Aug 8, 2004
Benefit Concert to be Held Officials from several Burlington County towns announced a benefit concert and fair for the victims of the recent floods in the County. This concert will be held as both a fundraiser and celebration to support the residents affected by the floods caused by the “1,000 year storm” on July 12.

“Many residents are in need of support for the replacement of items not covered by state and federal assistance or insurance,” stated Scott Rudder, Medford councilman and concert chairman. “This concert and fundraising event will help our neighbors whose lives where turned upside down.”

In addition to the “country-western” themed concert, there will be plenty of activities for the whole family to include hayrides, basketball and volleyball tournaments, face painting, a dunk tank, great food, and many other activities and surprises.

“This concert is also a celebration,” commented Freeholder Director Vince Farias. “Last month we saw our emergency management teams working along side residents in the rescuing of others. We saw an outpouring of volunteers cleaning up the homes of families they never previously met. We want to make sure we thank all of those who did so much in the rebuilding of our communities.”

Mount Laurel Mayor John Drinkard noted, “Everybody pulled together the day of the flood. Now is the time to continue to support our neighbors while also spending time together as a community.”

The event will be held at Freedom Park in Medford Township on August 29, 2004 from 12:30pm to 6pm. All proceeds will benefit the flood victims.

For those who wish to volunteer their time or talent for the event, please contact the Medford Recreation Department at (609) 654-2512 or e-mail recreation@medfordtownship.com.
