Teen Health Summit

by Press Release | Oct 13, 2004
Teen Health Summit The Burlington County Health Department will host a Teen Health Summit on Saturday, October 16th at the Human Services Facility in Westampton with free food, gifts, music, games and prizes for youths aged 13 to 17.

The summit, titled “My Body, My Mind, My Health--A Moral and Responsible Approach to Teen Health,” will be held from 9am to 2:45pm, and includes free breakfast and lunch. Gifts will include movie tickets, backpacks, T-shirts, key chains and more.

“The summit is an educational forum for teens targeting the faith-based and other community organizations. We want to help teens make the right choices when they encounter situations with drugs, alcohol, sex and pregnancy by giving them the facts and support,” said Freeholder Dawn Marie Addiego.

The program will include workshops on time management and empowerment skills discussing value issues of self respect, morality and responsibility. Participating partner organizations include: TEEN PEP of Burlington Township High School, REBEL Program of Burlington County, AIDS Coalition of Southern New Jersey, Virtua Community Nursing Service and Hand N Hand Coaching.

The summit is sponsored by the Burlington County Freeholders through a grant from the state Health Department’s Child and Adolescent Health Program.

Additional sponsors include the Burlington County Youth Opportunity Program, Prevention Plus of Burlington County and the Burlington County Health Department-Community Partnership for Healthy Adolescents. The Human Services Facility is located at 795 Woodlane Road in Westampton. Due to limited space, participants must be pre-registered. The registration form may be printed from the county website at www.co.burlington.nj.us. At the home page, click on departments and then click on Health.
