Walk for a Good Cause

Walk for a Good Cause South Jersey, it's time to put on your walking shoes! Join the AIDS Coalition of Southern New Jersey (ACSNJ) and Dooley House, Inc. on Saturday, September 30 for the second annual AIDS Walk South Jersey.

Come out to Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ to walk 3.7 miles in support of HIV/AIDS social service programs and experience a fun day of carnival themed activities. Registration begins at 8am with the official walk start at 10am. Camden Riversharks Mascot Finley, ACSNJ Executive Director Arthur H. Dion, and Dooley House, Inc. Executive Director Emery Troy will open the walk with a short ribbon cutting ceremony.

All proceeds benefit HIV / AIDS social service programs including case management, housing, transportation, legal services, employment counseling, support groups and assistance with medical care. Event gold sponsors include Aramark, Commerce Bank, Campbell's Soup and UPS. Event bronze sponsors include Marlin Leasing, Benefit Concepts, BET "Rap it Up," Grooveground Café & Coffeebar, Ponzio's of Cherry Hill, James Herman, Esq., Brandid Promotions, SoJo 104.9, Bowman & Company LLP, ESPN Atlantic City, The Trend, Remington & Vernick Engineers and Wawa, Inc.

Sign up as a participant today at www.acsnj.org. Participants can register online or download a printed pledge form. Collect funds from your family, friends and co-workers to support ACSNJ and Dooley House, Inc.

"We are excited to co-host AIDS Walk South Jersey for a second year. This family-centered event helps to raise awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS in our community and how we can all work together to prevent its spread, " says ACSNJ Executive Director Arthur H. Dion. "I hope you will join us on September 30 as we walk to fight this disease."

Furthermore, Dooley House, Inc. Executive Director Emery Troy says, "Please come out and join us as we take big steps to help small children."

Community members will also have the opportunity to view a four-panel display of the famous AIDS Memorial Quilt, courtesy of the Names Project Foundation - Central Jersey Chapter. Each 12 x 12 foot panel memorializes an individual who has lost his/her life to AIDS. There are currently over 44,000 panels circling the world. Panels will be on display for public viewing from 8:30am-1pm.

Other activities include live music provided by SoJo 104.9 from 8:30am-10:30am, giveaways from ESPN, balloon animals provided courtesy of Clowning Around Entertainment, a moonbounce for young children and free 5-minute sample back massages. All registered walkers receive a free walk t-shirt and hotdog lunch for participating.

Founded in 1988, Dooley House is a nonprofit organization established to provide holistic care to medically fragile infants, children and families with particular emphasis with those stricken with HIV / AIDS.
