Made in Camden, NJ USA A new project was developed this year to Acknowledge and Showcase the Achievements and works of International, and Local Artists, Musicians, Film Makers, Poets, Writers, Crafters, Dancers, and Entrepreneurs who have come Up Out of Camden, NJ. Also to give the Artist more venues in which to sell their work.

The first phase of the project begins the week of December 4, 2006 with various Multi-Cultural Events featuring a Senior’s Day Marketplace, a Writers & Poets - Reading, Book Signing, Awards & Reception; Fine-Art Exhibit Opening Reception; and a Friday Evening Soiree’. “The Camden Arts Renaissance” Week culminates on Saturday, December 9, 2006 featuring Fine-Art in the Gallery, A Show of Music Theater Poetry & Dance, Lifetime Achievement Arts Awards and the Marketplace. Selected Art Products and Historic Memorabilia, will also be sold online on the new MIC-NJ USA Website http://micnj.homestead.com

Walt Whitman Arts Center located at Rutgers Johnson Park, 2nd & Cooper Streets in Camden, near Rutgers University Camden campus.

Walt Whitman Arts Center created a special project called “Made in Camden, NJ USA” to acknowledge, celebrate, support and to further the artistic works of Camden’s longstanding, committed and gifted multi-cultural artists and to mentor our Young Artist. Events begin Monday, December 4th and ends Saturday, December 9, 2006. This week will launch the project and features “The Camden Art Renaissance” Events, which include on Dec 4th - a Senior’s Day Marketplace; Writers & Poets - A Reading, Book signing, Reception and “The Writers Vanguard Award” - will be given to Sandra Turner Barnes, Ewuare Osayande, Lamont Steptoe & the “New Writer Award” to Patsy Moore; a Fine-Art Exhibition - featuring Award winning International and Local Artist; the Harlem Renaissance - a show of music, theater, poetry, & dance; the “Made in Camden, NJ USA” Lifetime Achievement Arts Awards; and the Marketplace- MIC is a participant in “Project Red”- Fighting against aids in Africa; Lifetime Achievement Arts Awards Honorees are: Robert and Wanda Dickerson (world famous Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble); Leon Huff (GRAMMY award winning songwriter & music producer of Philadelphia International Records); Billy Paul (GRAMMY award winning vocalist); and Charles “Buster” Williams (renown bassist and GRAMMY award winner).
