Names to Know

Local people achieving big things in South Jersey and beyond.

Josh Hanlon
Hanlon, Washington Township High School’s Technology Integration Specialist, has been selected for the 2020-21 District Teacher of the Year. He is also in consideration for the Gloucester County Teacher of the Year. Hanlon underwent a huge transition back in March when he helped the school district pivot from in-person instruction to online and he has been credited with the success of the program.

Helene Burns
Burns, New Jersey’s senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Jefferson Health in Voorhees, has been recognized by the Garden State Council of the Boy Scouts of America as the 2020 Woman of Achievement for Camden County. She was recognized for being a strong female leader within South Jersey, for representing the Scout Oath and Law ideals and for her dedication to her community.

Katherine Santamore
Santamore was elected president by the Medford Board of Education after nearly 27 years on the board. As a Medford resident, she pushed for more attention to the arts, and since then Medford’s drama program has only grown. Now her goal is to build an educational fund to help improve standardized test scores for students in the township.

Janice Johnston
Johnston, a Cherry Hill native and Moorestown Friends grad, has been promoted to Executive Producer for “20/20” at ABC News. She is only the fourth person to hold this position over the past 43 years. During her 22-year career, Johnston has been recognized with multiple awards, including six Emmys, two duPoint Silver batons, two Peabody Awards and a Gracie award to name a few.
