Having a dog or cat should be a lifelong commitment. Think long and hard before you bring a new pet home. Can you afford vet bills—planned and unplanned? If you like to travel, can you afford to board your pet or hire a pet sitter? Pet ownership is like having a child—you cannot return them, but sadly too many pets are and that needs to change.
