South Jersey Soccer Coaches Tournament Fields Set
One of  South Jersey's top fall sports events is the South Jersey Soccer Boys and Girls Coaches Tournaments.

These are 16-team fields in the single-elimination tournament. 

This tournament is special as it includes teams of all Group sizes. Two years ago, Group 1 Haddon Township won the Coaches Tournament boys’ title. Just last year Group 2 Sterling captured the girls’ Coaches Tournament championship. 

The teams were selected according to the final South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association poll. The top 16 teams in the poll received bids.

The defending boys champion is Clearview, while Sterling, as mentioned, is the defending girls’ champ. Neither team earned a berth in this year’s tournament, once again showing how difficult it is to make the field. 

In an impressive double, Shawnee is the top seed in both the boys’ and girls’ tournament. The Shawnee boys began the week with an 11-1-1 record and had not lost to a team from the seven-county South Jersey area. The loss was 3-1 to Southern Regional, while there was a 1-1 tie against fellow Coaches Tournament team Washington Township.

Shawnee’s girls’ team entered the week with a 14-0 record. 

There are seven schools that have teams competing in both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments—Shawnee, Cherokee, West Deptford, Cinnaminson, Delsea, Eastern and Moorestown. 

DeCou Field in Cherry Hill will be the site of the semifinals and finals. The girls’ and boys’ games will be played at the same time since there are multiple fields at the complex. 

 

Here is the schedule:

Girls’ and Boys’ Coaches Tournament schedule

First round Oct. 25 or 26 at the highest seeded team

Second round on Oct. 28 at the highest seeded team.

Semifinals ad DeCou Oct. 30 at 6 and 8 p.m., with the highest remaining seed at 8 p.m. 

Final Nov. 2 at DeCou, 6 p.m.
