(Trenton) Carlos Hernandez delivered an RBI double in the 8th Inning to push Binghamton to an 8-7 win over Trenton Friday night.

Binghamton (60-56) got a one-out triple from Mike Curry off Jesus Pena (0-3). Hernandez followed with his hit over the 3rd base bag for the lead.

Rene Vega got the win despite allowing one run and five hits in two innings of relief. Pena was charged with one run in 2 1/3 innings.

Trenton (57-60) grabbed a 3-0 lead after four innings thanks to RBI doubles by Jerry Salzano and Luis Garcia, as well as an RBI single by Jess Graham.

Binghamton scored four times off starter Mike Kusiewicz in the 5th Inning to take the lead and knock him out of the game. Trenton came back in the bottom half with three runs for a 6-4 lead. Salzano had a two-run double in the inning.

The Mets plated three unearned runs in the 7th Inning for the lead, thanks in part to a cather`s interference call to start the inning. Trenton tied the game at 7-7 on a sacrifice fly by Angel Santos before Hernandez`s game-winner.

The second game is Saturday at 6:35 PM. Chris Elmore (3-0) starts for Trenton against the Mets` Jason Roach (7-6). Copyright © 1999 TheTrenton Thunder and Velcero™ All Rights Reserved.
