SJ Web Site Reviews - X-Mas Trees In SJ There are so many things to do this time of year, some fun, some decidedly in the category of work. Shopping, entertaining, decorating, picking out your Christmas tree... now that’s fun; Christmas tree hunting can be a real pleasure if you know where to go. Guess who found some fun places to search for the focal point of your Christmas deco – yep, I did it again.

I have zooming around the Internet and found some promising sites. As a jumping off point, I suggest The New Jersey Christmas Tree Grower’s Association Homepage: from there you can wander at leisure. Follow my trail a bit, though, for the tried and true leads. The Association dates back to 1950 and embraces environmental concerns. Their list of affiliations is impressive and includes the NJ Board of Agriculture.

For starters, you should locate a Christmas tree grower you want to visit. You can define your choices by county using the "Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm Guide" link. This guide will allow you to stick to South Jersey growers and give you a quick rundown on what is offered at each farm. There is even a handy key with twenty listings of services that may be available at each tree farm. Just read the numbers after the farm to see if what you want is offered – balled trees, Santa, hayrides, saws provided and, as I said, a total of twenty possibilities. A real plus are the directions and phone numbers included for each farm – very handy to have when roaming around those South Jersey back roads in the winter.

All right, so you’ve picked the farm, chosen the tree of your dreams, now what? You have to take care of it, keep it nice, fresh, and safe until after the holidays. My advice is to study the "Christmas Tree Care" link.

After reading through some of the information given on this page, you will amaze your friends and family with your in-depth knowledge of the many fascinating facets of Christmas trees. For instance, did you know that Christmas trees face many perils in their five to sixteen year lives before ultimately gracing your home? Problems range from tree thieves to vermin. There are tons of obscure little facts you can share on your drive to make the final purchase. This page even provides a guide to appropriate tree buying garb –now how complete is that? Of course your main concern is care of your tree, and this is given scrupulous attention, with instructions for both cut and balled trees.

I think this is ample preparation to go out and do a super job with your tree purchase.

There is one more detail, though, Christmas tree folklore. A truly well versed Christmas tree authority must be able to provide the details and history of exactly why we go through all this trouble to bring a tree into our homes, decorate it and then replant it or recycle it; the answers can all be found at the "Christmas Tree Folklore" link. Read about the ancient Egyptians, Romans, Druids... and eventually Victorian England and America.

There isn’t much more I can help you with in this area, so go out and have some fun shopping for your tree after researching and preparing yourself to fully enjoy the adventure.
