Vegas Hags Pigskin Picks - Week 14
For the year I have forecast 64% of the games correctly straight up and gotten 54% right against the spread. Not bad considering the topsy-turvy NFL this year, but I plan to close strong as the contenders separate from the pretenders. This week, The Eagles have a huge rematch with the surging Redskins, the Bucs and Bears battle for wild card position and the Steelers and Ravens try to put their money where their mouths are. Here’s the way I see it... Arizona (plus 5) at New York Giants
Great to see the Giants as also rans (yeah, I’m a homer!). The Cards are playing better, but both of these teams pretty much stink right now.
  Giants 24 – Cards 17
Oakland (minus 4) at San Diego
The Raiders D has been pretty bad lately, but the Chargers have already checked out.
  Raiders 27 – Chargers 19
Denver (minus 2½) at Kansas City
Denver is still in it with a win, but I smell upset.
  Chiefs 23 – Broncos 20
  Atlanta (plus 4) at Indianapolis
Two teams dead in the water.
  Colts 31- Falcons 24
Cincinnati (plus 9) at New York Jets
The Jets get back on track and stay in the hunt in the East with a win here.
  Jets 20 – Bungles 13
  Jacksonville (plus 2½) at Cleveland
Cleveland is improving; the Jags are very inconsistent. I like the home team here.
  Browns 21 – Jaguars 17
  Minnesota (minus 3) at Detroit
Will Detroit ever win a game? This could be the week, as the Vikings are having all kinds of problems…nah.
  Vikings 28 – Lions 27
New England (minus 4) at Buffalo
The Patriots are surprising everyone; the Bills are a joke.
  Patriots 31 – Bills 24
  Philadelphia (minus 2½) at Washington
This is a major grudge match. Look for a lot of big hits and not much offense on either side. These two teams almost always split and I see the Eagles moving the ball well enough to put 20 points on the board. The skins can’t post that many on the Birds D.
  Eagles 20 – Redskins 17
Tampa Bay (plus 3) at Chicago
The Bucs are charging and should scare the rest of the NFC playoff contenders. The Bears are fading fast.
  Bucs 17 – Bears 10
Miami (plus 3½) at San Francisco
Can the Niners rebound? They certainly should be embarrassed. The Dolphins will play tough defense and keep it close, but I don’t think they can hang all day with the Niners O.
  49ers 23 – Dolphins 21
Green Bay (minus 2½) at Tennessee
The Titans are done, and the Packers are in control of the NFC Central. Sounds like an easy pick, doesn’t it? Guess again. Jeff Fischer won’t let his team quit, and the Pack is due for a letdown.
  Titans 27 – Packers 24
  Dallas (plus 4½) at Seattle
Dallas has been playing pretty well and the Hawks are just young and inconsistent. The Seattle should be able to put up some points here and dust the Cowboys at home.
  Seahawks 26 – Cowboys 20
  Pittsburgh (plus 3) at Baltimore
This is going to be a great game! These two teams hate each other with a passion. The Steelers controlled the game last time and lost. Can the Ravens sweep? I say yes.
  Ravens 17 – Steelers 16
St. Louis (minus 6) at New Orleans
The Saints have been coming on strong as of late and think they can hang with the Rams. This will be close, but no cigar for the Saints.
  Rams 29 – Saints 27
  Record:
Last week – straight up: 12-3, Against the spread: 8-7
Year to Date - straight up: 118-67, Against the spread: 99-86.
