Fire Damages Seaside Hotel The fire destroyed most of the second floor of the Seaside Hotel in Seaside Heights. A newly renovated hotel at the shore went up in flames overnight.

The Seaside Hotel on Central Avenue in Seaside Heights caught fire at about 3:30 Sunday morning. Approximately 150 firefighters from seven companies were brought in to battle the blaze. It took them two hours to bring it under control.

There were about 50 people in the hotel when it caught fire. No one was hurt, but the flames destroyed most of the second floor.

Philip Molinari was a guest at the hotel. He was returning from getting something to eat when he saw the flames.

Philip Molinari/NUTLEY, NJ: "And our room was right on the second floor that's all burnt. So, it was like a miracle, our stuff just stayed. So God bless that. And that we're alright and that everyone else is alright."

The hotel changed management five months ago, and Bob Shah is the new owner.

Bob Shah/OWNER: "I'm feeling very sad. Very sad. But the good thing is that no one lost their life."

There is no estimate yet on the cost of the damages, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the owner says he believes it began on the roof.
