Camden Classrooms Have No Heat

Mike Street told NBC 10 that all of the classrooms in Building D are frigid. Some students said that they haven't had heat in almost a week.
"You know it's bad when the teacher has their coat on," Street said.
Vivian Dillard decided to take her son out of school Wednesday.
"He's getting over a cold, so that's why I'm going to get him out, so I don't have to have him deal with that," Dillard said.
The school superintendent admitted that they are experiencing several heating problems. She declined an on-camera interview, but told NBC 10 that they have met with contractors and hope to have it resolved by Thursday.
In East Camden Middle School, they have heat in parts of the building.
The school district said that they are committed to the health and safety of children and staff. But not all parents agree.
Angel Rodriguez, a parent, said that the school should be shut down until the heat problem is resolved to protect the health of the children.
"A lot of these kids don't have medical insurance, and if they get sick, the mother has to rush them to the doctor. The mother has to take off from work and they can't afford it," Rodriguez said.
While kids are wearing their coats and long johns to school, school officials told NBC 10 they are monitoring the situation on a day-by-day basis.
