SJ Schools: Wash.Twp. High School Washington Township High School (WTHS), located on 519 Hurfville-Cross Keys Rd in Sewell, provides an exceptional academic environment for students to learn about society and responsibility, and to create their own direction in life. Under the direction of principal Rosemarie Farrow, the school promotes the setting of realistic goals for each student’s future.

WTHS sponsors several academic and athletic activities throughout the year for students, parents, and the general community to enjoy. The following are some upcoming activities at the school.

Demonstrating the importance of continuing education, WTHS will sponsor its First Annual College Fair on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6pm to 8pm in the 9/10 gymnasium. Representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities have been invited to attend. Parent and students from grades 8 through 11 are invited to learn college planning, financial aid and NCAA information.

Promoting the importance of the arts in the community, WTHS will host the 11th Annual District Art night. The celebration features works of art by kindergarten through high school students. The projects range from drawing to ceramics. Refreshments and musical entertainment will also be available. The show will be held at the high school from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday, April 1st.

The WTHS DECA students are gearing up to compete in the National Competition held in Orlando Florida from April 26th through 29th. The theme of the event is the ‘Magic of Marketing.’ Students are required to compete in testing and role-playing, and also have the option to prepare written research projects. DECA is enjoying its largest membership ever this year with 377 active participants who compete in community projects, and competition and teamwork activities outside the classroom.

To promote awareness of the school to career program, district 3rd graders will visit the high school for Career Awareness during the month of April. The students will tour WTHS, learning of careers in marketing, business, printing, telecommunications, art, and childcare. Members of the Future Business Leaders of America will conduct the tour.

Gloucester County College will hold its third ‘Technology Fair for Women and Girl’s’ on Wednesday, May 14th. To expand the horizons of young women in the information technology field, WTHS will send six freshman girls to the fair. The event begins with an opening session followed by workshops throughout the day. The hands-on technical workshops provide a unique learning experience for women to choose a computer-related career. Students will also be mentored by local women in the field throughout the day.

Through belief and encouragement of its students, WTHS is proud to celebrate the following student achievements for this year.
