SJ Orgs: Animal Adoption Center

SJ Orgs: Animal Adoption Center The Animal Adoption Center in Lindenwold is a FOCAS (Friends of Camden Animal Shelter) registered organization seeking to alleviate the “animal problem” in Camden County. The shelter has rescued and provided good homes to thousands of animals since it opened in 1990. Each animal receives food, medical care, and love from dedicated volunteers.

The non-profit shelter struggles each month to pay their bills and to accept as many animals as possible. The shelter is the only one in the area that is “no-kill” (they don’t euthanize) for companion animals, and makes every effort to accept all animals, despite that their cages are consistently full. They need people to adopt these animals and also need help paying their bills including veterinary costs over $4,000 per month, food, grooming, toys and other animal needs.

The shelter has an aggressive adoption process to ensure the animals are being placed into good homes. Each adopter is required to fill out an application form including veterinarian phone numbers and references. After the application is approved, the adopter must sign a contract stating that if they are unable to keep the animal, they must return it to the shelter. Adoption fees are $100 for puppies and dogs and $90 for kittens and cats and all proceeds benefit the shelter.

There are several ways the shelter will accept donations, whether monetary donations, donations of time, or supplies from their wish list. Monetary donations are accepted by check to the Animal Adoption Center, P.O. Box 4017 Lindenwold, NJ 08021. Donations are also accepted online through PayPal. The free service allows you to donate directly from your checking account or by credit card using a few simple steps. By purchasing through PetSmart, through the banners on the shelter’s web site, the store will donate 10% of their commission of the total sale to the shelter.

The shelter also needs volunteers to help with fundraising, working at events, presenting programs in schools, and helping at the shelter by giving the animals attention and care. The shelter also needs landscapers, groomers and obedience trainers.

Special Events
The shelter holds several special events to promote awareness and raise funds. Your participation in one of the following events can help provide a better experience for some of our area’s homeless animals:

Dr. Elizabeth Severino, friend of Animal Adoption Center (the no-kill shelter in Lindenwold, NJ) will be at PetsMart in Cherry Hill on Saturday, June 28, from 11am-4pm. There are no reservations for readings, it is first come, first served. Note that Dr. Elizabeth touches your pet to get her intuitions, and, if she is given a photograph, she has also been able to provide insight about pets not present or that have passed on. This appearance is a fund raiser for the Animal Adoption Center--Dr. E. supports the no-kill mission.

Also on Saturday, June 28, from 7-9 pm, try Bowling for Animals at the Turnersville Brunswick Zone! $10 per person includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, and soft drinks. Space is limited, so reserve your lanes now! For tickets or more information call AAC Trustee Jeff Link at (856) 435-8640.
