Bishop Eustace holds several events throughout the school year that benefit the community and enrich participating students, including the following:
The fine and performing arts department will hold their annual spring concert on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:30pm at the Howard Phifer Middle School on Park Avenue in Pennsauken. Music includes popular, show, jazz and classical. Amnesty International will also hold their annual band concert “Jamnesty” on May 10th.
Parents and community members are encouraged to take part in the Kmart and Target dollars for education programs. Target’s Take Charge of Education program allows customers that use their Target Visa or guest card to donate 1% of their purchase to Bishop Eustace. Kmart’s school spirit program allows enrolled members to present their member card during each purchase and Kmart will contribute a portion of the purchase to Bishop Eustace. The Crusader Club did an amazing job this year of educating the community. The junior and senior members visit grammar schools and give tours to prospective students and families. Congratulations to seniors Mark Kohler, Christine Blom and Joe Ambrozy for their hard work and dedication in the admissions office.
The Bishop Eustace Student Library Association held a free Easter Story Hour on Saturday, April 12th in the library. Children were treated with stories and a magic show. The children also received Easter coloring books and crayons to take home with them. The story hour was a huge success and the children left with smiles on their faces.
Christopher Threston and Maureen McLoone were two of the students that helped out at the Bishop Eustace Book Fair at Barnes and Noble on March 30th. Local author of New Jersey related books Tom Wilk attended the fair and several students and faculty members treated the audience to music and magic.
Senior students Jessica Damato, Stephanie Flaherty, Jaclyn Przbylkowski, and juniors Michael Marie and Elizabeth Potts provided great leadership at the Hunger Banquet held this school year. The banquet helped raise funds to alleviate world hunger. The evening was equipped with motivational guest speakers who talked about Mexican and Vietnamese culture and world issues.
Bishop Eustace students pride themselves on achieving their dreams through the various opportunities he school offers. Congratulations to the following students for their achievements this year:
Photography Club student Kristen Sullivan achieved her dream by having her photograph published in the March issue of Teen Ink Magazine. The photograph can be seen on www.teenink.com/art/March03/. The members are also gearing up for the photography club show held through the month of May in the library where students display their best work.
Senior Nick Iannucci decided to end his winning streak as a hitter and switched to a pitcher. His decision was positive and earned him a scholarship to Monmouth University. Congratulations to Ianucci for his keen intuition and the ability to leave his comfort zone to try a new position, and achieving his goal.
Congratulations to Eustace musicians Amanda Larkin, Kate Federici, Toki Tahara, Kristin Sullivant and Edward Ford for being selected to travel to New York to receive a two-hour clinic with New York musicians. The students received an exciting educational experience and a new appreciation and understanding of music.
