Suspect Caught in Pennsauken Shooting A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend during a break-in at the woman's home in Pennsauken this weekend was captured early this morning, several hours after he sought treatment for a gunshot wound at a Philadelphia hospital.

Pennsauken police said Robert Baker, 28, of Willingboro, N.J., was arrested in Plainfield, but further details were not immediately available.

Baker was charged with weapons offenses and two counts of attempted murder after the shootings, which occurred when Baker went to the Pennsauken home of Karyne Simms and pushed in a room air conditioner around 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police said that Jamar Ward, 22, of Willingboro, was shot twice in the arms and once in the face before an assailant climbed through the window and chased after Simms, 23, who was shot twice in the upper body. Police said the assailant then chased after Ward, but ran off after a neighbor called police.

Several hours later, police said that Baker went to Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia and allegedly gave staffers there a false name. He had sought treatment for an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to his arm, they said, but soon fled after Philadelphia police arrived at the facility.

It was not clear how Baker got to Philadelphia or how serious his wound was, authorities said. Simms and Ward were being treated at Cooper Hospital-University Medical Center in Camden, but their conditions were not immediately available.
