Vegas Hags Pigskin Picks

by Vegas Hags | Sep 14, 2003
Vegas Hags Pigskin Picks Depressing. Brutal. Annoying. Repulsive. That’s the way I feel about the Eagles effort on MNF against the Bucs. Can someone tell me how your starting RB gets 1 carry when the last time he played against this team he ran wild and helped the team to a playoff win? I know Andy Reid has won a lot of games in his tenure here, but how does he get totally out coached (again) when he has 8 months to prepare?! How does he get away with the arrogant, cocky answers to questions from the press and the fans? I have news for you Andy, Philly is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of town. You better get it together fast or your aloof attitude will get you run out of town. OK, enough of my ranting. Can the Birds get a W this week against the Patriots? Can the Tuna go home to NJ and pull the upset? Get the answers to these and other burning questions inside…

Miami (-3) at New York Jets
Dave Wannstadt is on the hot seat in Miami and his team needs this win badly. They’ll get it, since the Jets are awful.
Dolphins 24 – Jets 20

Detroit (+6½) at Green Bay
Reality check for the Lions – not all NFL teams are as bad as the Cardinals. The Packers will rebound in a big way, even with 1 healthy WR.
Packers 30 – Lions 20

Washington (+3) at Atlanta
See above note to the Lions and change it to the Jets. Washington is better, but they won’t pull this one out.
Falcons 23 – Redskins 17

Tennessee (+2) at Indianapolis
What the heck happened with the Colts last week? Their defense played great and the offense didn’t do squat? What is this, bizzarro world? This should be a good game, I like the Titans to pull it out, though.
Titans 27 – Colts 24

Buffalo (-3) at Jacksonville
Ouch. His could get ugly for the Jags. The Bills are for real.
Bills 24 – Jaguars 13

Cleveland (+2) at Baltimore
You’ll think it’s the Indians and the Orioles when you see the score on this one. Or at least you’ll wish it was.
Browns 10 – Ravens 7 (TD scored by the defense)

Houston (+8) at New Orleans
Don’t count on 2-0 if you’re a Texans fan.
Saints 20 – Texans 13

San Francisco (+3) at St. Louis
Who had the concussion last week – Kurt Warner or Mike Martz? What a boneheaded game Martz called. He and Andy Reid must have a bet on who can under utilize their running backs more. And Mike, ever hear of a field goal? I’m sure the Rams will look better if they run Faulk and mix things up a bit. Will they? Probably, since they will want to protect Bulger.
Rams 30 – Niners 28

Pittsburgh (+3) at Kansas City
This should be a good one. I think both teams will move the ball and it will come down to a late FG. Go with the home team.
Chiefs 28– Steelers 27

Seattle (-4½) at Arizona
Only 4 ½?
Seahawks 35 – Cardinals 20

Carolina (+9½) at Tampa Bay
Are the Bucs that good or are the Eagles that bad? Don’t expect the Panthers to do much on O. This will be another ugly game and another win for the champs.
Bucs 16 – Panthers 6

Denver (-3) at San Diego
I’m sure the Broncos are happy that they broke the bank for Jake Plummer. They’re lucky they have LT. This will be a close one.
Chargers 23 – Broncos 21

Cincinnati (+12) at Oakland
The Raiders are mad and the Bengals will pay.
Raiders 33 – Bengals 17

New England (+5½) at Philadelphia
OK, which team that was picked to make a run at the Super Bowl will actually score a point? I have to think that this will be a hard fought game. I think both of these teams will end up in the playoffs, and I think the Eagles should win at home. The only thing that scares me is Bill Belichick. Andy Reid seems to get out – coached by good defensive coaches. Could it have anything to do with his super creative game plans? Anyway, I like the Eagles in a close one.
Eagles 24 – Patriots 23

Chicago (+8) at Minnesota
Da Bears are awful. Kordell Stewart? Does he have photos of NFL general mangers in compromising situations? How else would he keep getting a job? I think the Vikings could win the division. Enough said.
Vikes 26 – Bears 13

Dallas (+7½) at New York Giants
The Tuna returns to the site of his glory years. Unfortunately, he brings the Cowboys with him. Giants 20 – Cowboys 10

Last week:
Straight – up: 10 – 4
Against the Spread: 7 – 7
