Homeowner Stuck With Green Tap Water

Homeowner Stuck With Green Tap Water Homeowners in Gloucester County, N.J. have raised a red flag about green water coming out of their water taps.

In Pitman, N.J., people interviewed by NBC 10 say the water comes out of the tap clear. Then, it seems to turn a pale green.

"We haven't drank the water," said Susan Douglas. "We stopped drinking tap water.... My animals don't drink the water!"

Douglas says there has to be some type of reason why the water is green.

"It hasn't been green for 7 1/2 years," Douglas said. "It's been perfectly clear."

The Douglases say they've been forced to drink and stockpile bottled water because no one in Pitman seems to be able to explain why the water is green...

When even Susan Douglas's water filter couldn't stop the green water, she had it tested, and it failed for iron and came back high for bacteria.

When she couldn't get answers from Pitman and its water utility, Douglas went to the state for help.

But until that help arrives, the Douglases will have to keep drinking bottled water and so will the dog.
