South Jersey Football Games of the Week
It’s hard to believe this is the last week of the regular season in NJSIAA football. After this week players will enter the playoffs, meaning it is the final week to improve playoff seeding and finalize some divisional races in South Jersey.

Friday

6 p.m. - Millville (6-1, 4-0 WJFL American) at Cherokee (6-1, 3-1).

Millville has already clinched at least a tie for the American Division title and will be outright champ with a win. Cherokee can tie for the title with a victory. The Chiefs lone American Division loss was 3-0 to St. Augustine. Millville beat St. Augustine 21-7. This comes down to Cherokee being able to contain the explosive Millville offense. Junior Lotzeir Brook has 37 receptions for 619 yards and nine TDs* for Millville. Cherokee is primarily a running team, led by junior Murad Campfield, who has rushed for 813 yards (5.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns.

7 p.m. - Pleasantville (6-1, 3-0 WJFL Patriot) at Middle Township (7-1, 3-0).

The math is simple in this one. The winner will earn the Patriot Division championship. Pleasantville has won six in a row since an opening 14-6 loss at Ocean City. Sophomore Ahmad Jones has continued to progress as QB for Pleasantville. The Greyhounds’ best win was a 20-14 victory over Group 1 contender Glassboro. Middle Township has won two in a row since a 20-14 loss to Wall. The Panthers also beat Glassboro, 24-22. Junior Remi Rodriguez has rushed for 961 yards (7.9 avg.) and 11 touchdowns to lead the Middle Township offensive attack.

Saturday

11 a.m. - Woodstown (5-2, 3-0 WJFL Diamond) at Penns Grove (4-4, 2-1).

Woodstown has already clinched at least a share of the Diamond Division title and would be the outright champion with a win. Penns Grove can tie for the division title with a win. (In addition, if Woodbury (2-1) beats Salem and Woodstown loses, then Woodbury would earn at least a share of the title.) Woodstown is coming off a 48-16 loss to SJ Group 2 contender Haddonfield. Junior Bryce Belinfanti just went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. He now has rushed for 1,005 yards (7.7 avg.) and 12 touchdowns. Penns Grove has won three in a row following last week’s 32-3 victory over Pennsville. Junior Bryce Wright has rushed for 783 yards (5.8 avg.) and nine touchdowns.

Noon - Winslow Township (6-2, 3-0 WJFL Independence) at Cedar Creek (6-2, 2-1).

Winslow Township has already clinched at least a share of the Independence title and would win it outright with a victory over Cedar Creek. The Eagles will be heavy favorites. Meanwhile, Cedar Creek could clinch a share of the title with a win. Freshman Jalen Parker has thrown for 1,484 yards and 21 touchdowns for Winslow Township. The Eagles’ two losses were to Cherokee and Washington Township by a total of five points. Cedar Creek bounced back from a 50-14 loss to Delsea to defeat Oakcrest, 13-0 last week.
